A new webcast is bringing news and commentary on Ukraine’s turbulent political situation to the English-speaking world. The Ukraine Political Report, hosted by Yulia Pushko, debuted on YouTube today.
Pushko, a former journalist, is government affairs director for Willard, an advertising and public relations agency headquartered in Kyiv.
“Much of the information about Ukrainian political news to be found on the Internet at sites like YouTube is created by Russia Today, the Kremlin’s English-language television news channel. We wanted to provide a Ukrainian perspective on Ukrainian politics,” said Willard chairman and CEO Mike Willard.
The five-minute webcast concentrates on news analysis based on Pushko’s experience and contacts in the government and media.
“I believe that it is important that the world understand Ukraine better,” Pushko said. “Investors look at our country and say that it is unstable. For them, it’s a bit scary. For us, instability is stability. It’s normal.”
“We want to be realistic – without sugar-coating the news or casting Ukraine in an unflattering light for political reasons,” she said. “We want to give people in the English-speaking world a realistic assessment of political developments.”
The Ukraine Political Report webcast is based on Birds-Eye View, a biweekly newsletter covering the country’s politics that Pushko writes for Willard. The free analytical report is distributed widely by e-mail subscription and can be found in Kyiv hotel business centers.
